Kalgoorlie-Boulder has joined the WA EV Network with a 150kW fast charger and a 22kW back-up charger now open in one of Western Australia’s biggest and most iconic regional cities.

The charger, delivered by Synergy in collaboration with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, means electric vehicle drivers can travel to Kalgoorlie-Boulder with chargers in Merredin, Southern Cross, and Coolgardie.
There are now 27 chargers completed along the WA EV Network with the next slated to open in Margaret River.
The network is due to be substantially completed mid-2024.
When complete, it will feature 49 EV charging sites, on average less than 200km apart, creating one of the longest vehicle charging networks in the world.
An EV charger using WA’s main electricity grid—the South West Interconnected System— will generate about 30% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than conventional petrol vehicles.
Western Australian Energy and Climate Action Minister Reece Whitby said, “The opening of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder electric vehicle charger is an exciting milestone in the rollout of the WA EV Network.
