Central Queensland Power (CQP) has secured environmental approval from the federal government for its 360MW Moah Creek Wind Farm project near Rockhampton in Queensland.
CQP said the approval reflected several years of detailed environmental assessment, technical investigations, and extensive engagement with landholders, community members, Traditional Owners, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

“Since 2020, the project has undertaken 28 ecological surveys over 183 field survey days, with the findings helping inform design refinements that reduce impacts while maintaining the project’s ability to deliver renewable energy generation and regional economic benefits,” the company said on LinkedIn.
“We would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who has contributed to the assessment process. The input received throughout project development has played an important role in shaping the project.
“As we move into the next phase, we remain focused on delivering meaningful community benefits, supporting local economic opportunities and maintaining transparent engagement with stakeholders across the region.”
Moah Creek Wind Farm’s location was chosen for good wind speeds, proximity to transmission lines, and accessibility.
The project infrastructure has been located prioritising the previously cleared areas and existing farm tracks. The project infrastructure will use only 6% of the total site area of 10,500 ha and will have a minimal impact to farming, where all extents are currently used for cattle grazing.

Moah Creek Wind Farm will supply electricity to the National Electricity Market (NEM).
