Senior representatives from AEMC, AEMO, EnergyCo, Endeavour Energy, ENGIE, TasNetworks and the Clean Energy Council will examine leadership, workforce participation and the skills required to support Australia’s energy transition at an industry summit in Sydney.

The third annual Women in Energy & Renewables Summit will be held at Pullman Sydney Hyde Park from 14–15 October 2026.

The program brings together speakers from electricity generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, market bodies, government and regulation.

Among the speakers are:

  • Anna Collyer, Chair, Australian Energy Market Commission
  • Nicola Falcon, Executive General Manager, Australian Energy Market Operator
  • Hannah McCaughey, Chief Executive Officer, EnergyCo
  • Danny Cooper, Chief Executive Officer, Endeavour Energy
  • Laura Caspari, Chief Executive Officer, ENGIE
  • Renée Anderson, Interim Chief Executive Officer, TasNetworks

  • Melissa Irwin, Chief Data, People & Sustainability Officer, Endeavour Energy
  • Ruchika Deora, General Manager – Product, State Electricity Commission
  • Vonda Malone, General Manager and Chief Advocate, Indigenous Energy Australia.

Anna Collyer will open the program with a keynote examining the progress made by women across the energy sector and the work still required to strengthen pathways into leadership.

Nicola Falcon will discuss the next chapter of the National Electricity Market, including the challenges associated with managing a rapidly changing energy system.

Other sessions will consider the workforce and organisational capabilities required to deliver major energy projects, from initial development through to construction and operation.

Career progression, mentorship and sponsorship will also form part of the program, with speakers examining how women can build visibility and credibility and progress into technical and senior leadership roles.

The agenda will address workplace conditions affecting women in operational and field-based positions. Topics will include workplace culture, safety, appropriate facilities and equipment, flexible career pathways and roster structures.

Technology and workforce transformation will be another focus. A panel featuring representatives from Endeavour Energy, AirTrunk and the UNSW Energy Institute will examine the opportunities and risks associated with the growing use of artificial intelligence.

A separate panel involving representatives from AEMC, AEMO and EnergyCo will consider what further action is required if the sector is to progress towards the international Equal by 30 commitment.

Regional and First Nations participation in the energy transition will also be discussed. Vonda Malone and other industry representatives will examine how energy businesses can improve engagement with remote, regional and Indigenous communities and support their participation in new energy projects.

Additional discussions will cover project-delivery capability, leadership development, automation, digitisation and the changing skills required across the energy workforce.

The Women in Energy & Renewables Summit 2026 will be held at Pullman Sydney Hyde Park from 14–15 October.
