Open to community groups, not-for-profits and charitable organisations, ActewAGL’s program provides grants of up to $20,000 each to support impactful projects across the region.

ActewAGL is inviting eligible organisations to submit applications for initiatives focused on innovation, environmental sustainability, support for at-risk populations and community engagement.

The impact ActewAGL’s Community Grants program has had on the community in previous years is evident through a broad range of projects, including nature walks to promote mental health, a safe shelter to help disadvantaged women, a sanctuary dedicated to rehabilitating injured Australian wildlife and support for assistance dogs to improve the quality of life for children with special needs.

St John’s Care, a 2023 recipient of an ActewAGL Community Grant, provides emergency relief, support and programs to individuals facing low-income and social disadvantage.

Environmental conservation organisation, Landcare ACT, received an ActewAGL Community Grant to launch its Women in Nature program.

Landcare ACT CEO Karissa Preuss said, “This is a fantastic way for Landcare ACT to bring the well-established benefits of nature connection for mental health, wellbeing and social connection to Canberran women.

“This support from ActewAGL will allow the Women in Nature program to provide a safe space for women and gender diverse people to connect with nature and each other, offering supported nature connection activities run by a trained facilitator and building on the demonstrated success of our Wellbeing through Nature program.”
