Canadian Solar subsidiary Recurrent Energy Australia has successfully secured grid connection approval for its hybrid renewables project Sundown Energy Park in New South Wales.

Located within the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), the project combines 443MWdc of solar capacity with a 600MWh battery energy storage system, making it one of the country’s most significant hybrid renewable projects.

Once operational, Sundown Energy Park will deliver clean and reliable energy to approximately 176,000 households, while enhancing grid stability by supporting peak demand periods through its integrated storage solution.

“This achievement reflects the strong collaboration with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), Transgrid and Lumea, and highlights Recurrent Energy’s continued commitment to delivering innovative, large-scale renewable solutions that strengthen energy systems and accelerate decarbonization,” the company said in an announcement on its LinkedIn page.
