Waubra foundation loses charity status

Anti-wind farm group the Waubra Foundation has had its health promotion charity status removed by government regulators.

Following complaints to the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Taxation Office by the Greens regarding the link between wind farms and ill health, the ACNC found there was insufficient evidence the foundation’s work promotes disease prevention, according to an ABC News report.

Earlier this year, ACNC assistant commissioner David Locke said, “It is not possible for me to find the foundation’s principal activity promotes the prevention or control of disease in human beings.”

With the Waubra Foundation’s loss of stays as a health promotion charity, comes the privilege to receive tax deductible donations. The foundation’s website has now stopped accepting donations.
