WA Council says no to solar thermal project

A $20 million solar thermal power project using Australian invented and owned technology will not proceed, with local shire representatives saying the project is beyond the capacity of the local council.

Energy Business News reported the proposed North Midlands Solar Thermal Project, located south-east of Geraldton, would use Concentrated Solar Power technology with VirtualSolar energy storage.

The technology allows the plant to store the sun’s energy and continue to generate power with or without the sun.
