Schneider Electric and Endeavour Energy have announced they will be commencing work on a new project that aims to deliver reliable power for 2.4 million Australians in New South Wales.
Schneider Electric’s smart grid management system for utilities ExoStruxure ADMS will be integrated with Endeavour Energy’s distribution network to improve efficiency and reliability management.
According to Schneider, the integration of EcoStruxure ADMS provides Endeavour Energy with leading critical grid management capabilities that will improve outage response, optimise evolving grid operation and manage increasing Distributed Energy Resources impacts.

CIO of Endeavour Energy Andrew Bettenay says the company’s number one priority is to provide safe, reliable and affordable energy to more than 2.4 million people living and working across Sydney’s Greater West, the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and the South Coast.
“We chose Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure ADMS solution because its world-leading smart grid control capabilities will reduce power losses, network operation costs and outage times, while improving the safety and reliability of our network for the benefit of our customers now and for generations to come,” Bettenay says.
Schneider Electric’s managing director Pacific Gareth O’Reilly says Schneider’s goal is to “help customers address the energy trilemma; accessible, sustainable and reliable power.”
Further, vice president of energy for Schneider Electric Simon Mouat says this new ADMS project will help further digitise the Australian Grid.

“Bridging Endeavour Energy’s OT and IT environment, EcoStruxure ADMS provides an all-in-one product that will truly digitise their power systems,” Mouat says. “It will introduce mobile switching as part of a suite of field force mobility tools and services, enable reliability improvements through distribution automation, and provide a way of managing future embedded generation and emerging technologies.”
Endeavour Energy’s network is set to accommodate dramatic growth, including the North West and South West priority growth areas of Sydney, which will see 500,000 new residents connect to the grid over 30 years. These are new cities the size of Wollongong or Canberra, and their success will be linked to how homes and businesses access, generate and distribute electricity as our world becomes more electrified.
