The Australian Government’s Community Solar Banks program is providing an additional $21.2 million in funding, under a Federation Funding Agreement, to the Queensland Government.

This funding aims to increase the solar capacity of the Local Renewable Energy Zones (LREZ) project by 10.6MW to a total of 16.2MW.

The Queensland Government have committed $80 million to LREZ projects in Townsville and Caloundra. This will:

  • boost renewable energy production
  • improve grid stability
  • ensure reliable energy supply for local communities.
