Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said apprenticeships with Energex and Ergon Energy were highly sought after and could lead to rewarding careers in a dynamic industry.
The new recruits will be among more than 120 apprentices who start a career this year with Queensland’s publicly owned electricity businesses.
Across Queensland, Energex, Ergon, CS Energy and Stanwell already have more than 120 fresh recruits working at their depots and power stations, including 32 women and 11 who identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Dr Lynham said thousands of applicants sought to become apprentices with Energex and Ergon every year.
“Queensland’s world-class electricity distribution networks mean Energex and Ergon apprentices are trained in new technologies, such as alternative energy solutions and smart grids,” he said.
