Ausgrid opens 2024 Bright Spark Apprentice Program

Ausgrid’s 2024 Bright Spark Apprentice Program is now open to applicants. There are 40 apprentice positions available for those early in their career, school leavers, people looking to change careers or anyone already completing an electrical apprenticeship.  

Successful applicants will be paid to learn, with the program building strong foundations across multiple trades while supporting apprentices to develop careers as lineworkers, cable jointers or electricians with a keen focus on renewables and emerging technologies.

Ausgrid EGM of people Celina Cross said it’s an exciting time to be part of the energy industry.   

“Ausgrid is continuing to build a diverse, skilled workforce to make sure they are best equipped for the evolving transition towards net zero. Each year the Bright Spark Apprentice Program recruits phenomenal, talented young people from a diversity of backgrounds who thrive in our team working environments.

“Our apprentices enjoy being surrounded by a highly skilled and experienced workforce who are energised by supporting those starting out in our industry. I encourage people from all different backgrounds and walks of life to make an application and be part of our future,” Cross said.    

The 2022 Apprentice of the Year, Olivia Sneddon said the program gives apprentices the opportunity to advance their career in the energy industry while fostering an inclusive environment.  

“The Bright Spark apprenticeship program provides valuable, lifelong skills, responsibilities and opportunities. Every day of my Bright Spark apprenticeship I learned something new, and developed friendships that have helped me shape my own way of thinking towards both work and life.
