ACCIONA’s investment provides certainty for the ongoing construction and future operation of the facility, its workers, and the local community.
The Kwinana Waste-to-Energy project will deliver critical waste management infrastructure and sustainable energy to Western Australia, with the facility on track to be operational in the last quarter of 2024.
When complete, it will divert up to 460,000 tonnes of waste per annum from landfill and deliver 38MW of baseload power to the Western Power grid, sufficient to power more than 50,000 households.
ACCIONA Australia CEO Bede Noonan said, “ACCIONA is delighted to be playing such an important role in the delivery of Australia’s first Waste-to-Energy facility—a vital asset that will deliver critical waste management infrastructure and sustainable energy to Western Australia.
“ACCIONA is pleased that our investment has secured the future of this project and provided certainty to the local community and the workers who are either directly or indirectly employed by the project.
