ACCIONA has acquired 100% ownership of the Kwinana Waste-to-Energy project in Western Australia after striking a deal with Macquarie Capital and Dutch Infrastructure Fund.

ACCIONA’s investment provides certainty for the ongoing construction and future operation of the facility, its workers, and the local community.
The Kwinana Waste-to-Energy project will deliver critical waste management infrastructure and sustainable energy to Western Australia, with the facility on track to be operational in the last quarter of 2024.
When complete, it will divert up to 460,000 tonnes of waste per annum from landfill and deliver 38MW of baseload power to the Western Power grid, sufficient to power more than 50,000 households.

“This investment further supports our long-term commitment to Western Australia through the development of key sustainable infrastructure solutions including the Mundaring water treatment plant, the New Bayswater Station, and the Bunbury Outer Ring Road,” Noonan said.
