Nalder served as a member of the Western Australian Parliament from 2013 to 2021, holding a range of senior positions, including the ministerial portfolios of Transport, Finance and Agriculture, as well as Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
During his 18 years at ANZ, he also served in a range of executive roles, culminating in his appointment to the chief executive group. Later serving as Australia Post’s state commercial manager, Nalder also worked with Hancock Prospecting in media and public relations.
Nalder also serves on the boards of DevelopmentWA, The Perth Mint, ReefCraft and the South Fremantle Football Club.
The AVESS Board believes Nalder’s experience in navigating complex regulatory environments, driving strategic outcomes and engaging key government, industry, and community stakeholders will prove invaluable as the company enters its next growth phase.
AVESS managing director Young Yu said, “We are delighted to welcome Dean as chair. His deep government and industry experience, combined with his ability to guide organisations through transformation, will be essential as we execute our growth strategy and pursue new opportunities.
“Dean’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the business as we advance the Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Diversification (QCESCD) Program and present a uniquely Australian submission for the Kalgoorlie Vanadium Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EOI process. We look forward to working with Dean as we build on this momentum.”
