Major overhaul of Unit C4 begins at Callide Power Station

Queensland’s state-owned CS Energy has begun a scheduled overhaul of Unit C4 at the jointly owned Callide C Power Station as part of its asset management program under the Queensland Government’s Electricity Maintenance Guarantee.

The Unit C4 major overhaul is running from 10 April to 26 June and will include more than $60 million in expenditure towards a range of statutory inspections, maintenance, and other works to support its reliable and efficient operation.

CS Energy recently completed the largest maintenance overhaul in the history of Callide Power Station at Unit C3.

Acting CS Energy CEO Tony Bellas said the overhaul involved many months of planning and preparation.

“CS Energy is working closely with our major contracting partner Downer to deliver this overhaul, as well as Intertek, Toshiba, CQ Techs, Multivalve and other subcontractors,” he said.

“Our priority is delivering this overhaul safely, on time and on budget, so that Callide C can continue to support Queensland’s energy needs.”

The overhaul of Unit C4 includes statutory compliance work, inspections and repairs of high pressure energy piping, generator circuit breaker mid-life overhaul, control system upgrade, and replacement of air heater baskets and fabric filter bags.
