Vestas to supply turbines for Kapuni Wind Farm in NZ

Global wind turbine company Vestas has been selected to supply turbines for Hiringa Energy’s 26MW Kapuni Wind Farm in New Zealand.

The order includes supply and installation of 4 V162-6.4 MW EnVentus wind turbines and a 20-year service agreement.

The Kapuni project is a partnership between Hiringa Energy, Balance Agri-Nutrients, Todd, PKW and MBIE, with Hiringa Energy leading development and operations.

As one of New Zealand’s first large‑scale projects integrating wind power to the grid that supports green hydrogen production at scale, Kapuni supports decarbonisation across transport, energy, industry and agriculture while strengthening the country’s renewable energy system.

Hiringa co-founder and chairperson Catherine Clennett said, “Vestas’s cutting-edge technology and proven track record in New Zealand will strengthen our energy generation capacity, enabling us to reliably supply clean hydrogen across our network.

Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026, while commissioning is planned for the second quarter of 2027.
