Powerlink grants open for regional Queensland communities

Powerlink Queensland has launched its Community Grants program, offering financial support for initiatives and activities across regional Queensland.

Community groups, clubs and not-for-profit organisations in 14 local government areas (LGAs) can apply for grants valued up to $5,000 for projects commencing from January 1.

Grants will aim to support projects and activities that align with key focus areas such as resilience, safety, well-being, and economic outcomes.

Groups within the following local government areas (LGAs) are eligible to apply: Banana; Cairns; Charters Towers; Etheridge; Flinders; Gladstone; Gympie; Hinchinbrook; Somerset; South Burnett; Southern Downs; Richmond; Toowoomba; and Western Downs.

Powerlink general manager, community and delivery services Dana Boxall said, โ€œPowerlink will be delivering more transmission lines as part of Queenslandโ€™s energy transformation and decarbonisation of the economy.

โ€œWe recognise the vital role communities play in this transition, whether itโ€™s through providing feedback on nearby projects or hosting our infrastructure.”
