A power surge at Brisbane Airport this morning has caused traveller chaos with systems going offline for 35 minutes.

Journalist Kelly James, who was at the airport at the time of the surge, says baggage drop was brought to a standstill, causing massive delays.

“What we’ve heard is that the luggage belts don’t work with the back-up generator,” she told ESD News.

Baggage, check-in and security were all impacted.

A Brisbane Airport spokesperson told 4BC, “unfortunately, passengers will be experiencing some delays this morning” as the airport worked through manual check-in processes.
