Ocean Sun to bring floating solar tech to Australia

Canopy Power Australia and Norway’s Ocean Sun have formed a strategic partnership to advance floating solar solutions in Australia.

“We are thrilled to announce our strategic partnership with Canopy Power to introduce our innovative floating solar solution to the Australian market,” Ocean Sun said in a statement.

“This collaboration combines Ocean Sun’s high-efficiency FPV technology and Canopy Power’s expertise in microgrids and BESS—a perfect match to accelerate Australia’s energy transition.”

The partnership will provide benefits through:

  • Addressing land and water scarcity near demand centers while supporting Australia’s clean energy goals.
  • Leveraging Canopy Power’s expertise in hybrid renewable systems, integrating battery storage, rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV, with Ocean Sun floating technology.
  • Introducing high-efficiency floating solar with integrated rainwater harvesting for sustainable resource use.

“With its vast potential for floating solar, Australia is an ideal market for our technology,” the statement continued.

“Building on the success of the Soneva Secret project, we are committed to making a meaningful impact on Australia’s renewable energy and sustainability goals, and we look forward to delivering scalable, cost-effective, and resilient clean energy solutions.”
