Renewables firm Iberdrola Australia has completed its acquisition of Ararat Wind Farm in Victoria—marking its largest wind project to date.
Iberdrola Australia acquired the wind project, which has been in operation since 2017, from Partners Group and OPTrust.

The 242MW Ararat Wind Farm acquisition brings Iberdrola Australia’s total owned capacity to 2.5GW and total operating capacity to 2.74GW.
“Through this acquisition, we add to our presence in Victoria including being selected as Development Partner for the 240km VNI West interconnector, our feasibility licence for the 3GW Aurora Green Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Gippsland, our offtake contract for 100% of the output from the 57.6MW Cherry Tree Wind Farm, and our Mount Doran Battery development,” the company said in a statement.
Iberdrola Australia CEO Paul Simshauser commented, “The acquisition of Ararat Wind Farm adds to our commitment to the energy transition in Victoria and to deliver reliable and affordable electricity for our customers.
