German engineering consultancy GICON has announced the completion of the world’s tallest wind turbine in Schipkau, Brandenburg.
The record-breaking wind turbine has reached its final height of 365m after a year-long construction process, and is set to undergo commissioning in November.

GICON said in a statement, “With a hub height of 300m, the system is the tallest wind turbine in the world and at the same time the second-tallest structure in Germany.”
The wind turbine is only three metres shorter than Germany’s tallest structure, the Berlin TV Tower.
The tower is part of a pilot plant being constructed by GICON on behalf of the German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovations, built at three levels with solar PV on the ground, conventional wind turbines at low altitude, and the taller wind turbine at high altitude, where consistent winds can generate twice the energy of low-altitude turbines.
GICON says the massive wind turbines could be built in between conventional wind turbines in existing wind farms, unlocking more generation without procuring new land.
GICON CEO and founder Dr Jochen Großmann said, “365 metres—this is a momentous occasion for our entire team. What began as an ambitious concept and subsequently became an equally challenging construction project now stands in Schipkau as a facility unique in the world.

“This world record belongs to everyone who contributed their expertise, dedication, and perseverance—both on the construction site and within the many teams behind the project. We at GICON are extremely proud of this achievement.”
