Renewable energy retailer Flow Power has signed a foundational offtake agreement
with renewables developer Octopus Australia for the Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project.

The announcement follows Octopus Australia’s financial close on the $900 million Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project in Bungendore, New South Wales.

The next-generation hybrid solar and battery project will combine 300MW of solar with a 243MW/486MWh battery, ensuring more clean energy can be generated, stored and delivered to the grid during evening peaks.

Flow Power’s offtake agreement serves as an anchor for Blind Creek, helping underpin the project and bring an innovative firmed offtake model to the market.

Flow Power COO and CFO Byron Serjeantson said, “Flow Power and Octopus Australia share a vision for the role of new technologies in driving a cleaner and more flexible energy system.

“Blind Creek represents the next generation of renewable energy projects, combining smart technology, firmer supply for customers, and regenerative agriculture. We’re proud to be a foundational partner, helping bring this impressive project to life.

“The Octopus Australia team have been fantastic to work with, and we see them as a well-aligned partner supporting us to continue delivering reliable renewables to homes and businesses across Australia.”

Octopus Australia co-managing director of renewables Sonia Teitel said, “Flow Power’s leadership in Australia’s renewable energy market established it as a natural partner for Blind Creek and Octopus Australia in the longer term.

“From the outset, our teams have been aligned on building a cleaner energy future grounded in innovation and customer value.

“We’re looking forward to working together on this project that sets a new benchmark for firmed renewables in Australia.”

Developed in close partnership with local landholders, Blind Creek is designed as a true agri-solar model, allowing sheep grazing to continue across the site while improving land productivity.

Once operational, the project will generate up to 300MW of clean electricity— enough to power more than 120,000 homes. This reduction in emissions is equivalent to taking 200,000 cars off the road every year.

The project’s DC-coupled design and technology allow energy to flow directly from the solar array into the battery, representing the next evolution of hybrid renewable systems. This design reduces losses, improves efficiency, and maximises the support the project can provide for the grid during high-demand periods.

Construction is now underway, with up to 300 jobs created by the project at its peak, and ongoing employment opportunities available once operational. Octopus Australia is continuing its collaboration with EPC contractor GRS and Wärtsilä Energy Storage as the battery system supplier.
