Victorian network operator AusNet says there are approximately 3,400 bushfire-affected homes, farms, and businesses in its network without power after bushfires ravaged parts of the state.
Uncontrolled bushfires have swept through parts of Victoria amid an intense heatwave, with many communities forced evacuate.

“With active fires still burning, we still don’t have access to all parts of our network, making recovery efforts very difficult,” an AusNet spokesperson said.
“We will continue to work with emergency agencies to gain safe access to areas where the fire has passed through so that we can assess damage to power infrastructure and repair or rebuild the network. The rebuild may still take some time to complete.”
AusNet has established a dedicated Bushfire Support Line (1300 561 171) for affected customers.
The company is investigating the potential for mobile generators to be situated in some of the worst impacted communities where it might not be able to restore mains power for some time.
“AusNet’s Emergency Management Mobile Assistance Vehicles (EMMAs) will be in the community to support fire affected communities in the days ahead,” the spokesperson said.

“They will be able to provide information and support, help people charge their devices and to access the internet to check in with family and friends. Details will be published on AusNet’s Facebook page.
“Customers can continue to report any faults to 13 17 99. We ask that people please stay clear of any damaged infrastructure or powerlines for their own safety.”
