Northern Territory energy provider, Power and Water Corporation, is recognising NAIDOC Week by celebrating its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce.

Shared Services executive assistant Lauren Motlop, a Larrakia woman, said she joins in on NAIDOC Week activities in Darwin each year.

“It’s a good time to acknowledge what Indigenous people do in the community and celebrate their achievements,” she said.

Lauren’s role involves calendar management for multiple managers, organising events, arranging travel and working with other business units across the corporation. Lauren is also an Aussie Rules star; she’s currently captain of the Wanderers Football Club in the women’s NTFL, and was selected to be part of the NRL Indigenous All Stars.

NAIDOC week runs across Australia annually to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
