AGL has welcomed the preliminary report from the Australian Energy Market Operator, into the South Australian statewide blackout last week.

AGL released a statement saying it had run its wind turbines in South Australia for eight years and was confident wind generation didnโ€™t degrade the reliability of the electricity system in South Australia during the superstorm last week.

โ€œWind generation is a valuable part of the energy system and contributes positively to the reliability and security of the system,โ€ it said.

โ€œA third of AGLโ€™s wind generation at the time (of the storm) in South Australia continued to operate until the system blackout.

โ€œAGL will continue to work closely with energy market stakeholders and regulators to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of energy to customers.โ€
