AGL has welcomed the preliminary report from the Australian Energy Market Operator, into the South Australian statewide blackout last week.
AGL released a statement saying it had run its wind turbines in South Australia for eight years and was confident wind generation didn’t degrade the reliability of the electricity system in South Australia during the superstorm last week.
“Wind generation is a valuable part of the energy system and contributes positively to the reliability and security of the system,” it said.
“A third of AGL’s wind generation at the time (of the storm) in South Australia continued to operate until the system blackout.
“AGL will continue to work closely with energy market stakeholders and regulators to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of energy to customers.”
