AEMO appoints new digital and technology chief

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has appointed Joe Locandro to the role of chief digital and technology officer.

Mr Locandro was formerly vice president business technology solutions at Emirates Airlines. Before joining Emirates, Mr Locandro held a variety of executive roles at Cathay Pacific Airlines, China Light & Power, its subsidiary Yallourn Energy โ€“ AusPower and Village Roadshow.

With over 18 yearsโ€™ of experience in executive IT management, Mr Locandroย has a proven track record in delivering for global blue chip organisations across the world and has been widely recognised for his achievements and awarded several accolades including CIO of the year, top 100 global CIO of the year and Asia IT Innovator award.

Mr Locandro holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Commerce from University of Melbourne, a graduate diploma in Marketing from Monash University and Strategic Application of Information Technology from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He commences his new role with AEMO in March 2018.
