If approved, the 450MW/1.8GWh Talbingo Battery would would be the first big battery to be built alongside the Snowy Hydro scheme in New South Wales. The Talbingo Battery will assist in firming the electrical network and providing system services to the electrical network in NSW.

The Talbingo Battery will be located on private land immediately adjacent to Transgrid’s 330kV Lower Tumut Switching Station, 2.8km south of the township of Talbingo.

Pre-construction is estimated to take around four months, followed by an 18 months of construction, followed by six months of commissioning and post-construction. The Talbingo Battery will have an expected lifespan of 35 years, after which it will be extended or decomissioned.

ACE Power recently celebrated the approval of two of its flagship battery projects in Queensland, Nebo BESS and Raglan BESS.
