Construction has begun on Atmos Renewables’ Parron Maam Marang Wind Farm, which is set to become Western Australia’s biggest wind project.

Located in the state’s Wheatbelt region, Parron Maam will feature 78 wind turbines that will generate 470MW of renewable energy—enough to power around 350,000 homes.

Construction follows the execution of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement between Synergy and the project in March this year.

Parron Maam Marang Wind Farm is a WA Government Priority Project and is also backed by the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme.

Atmos Renewables CEO Nigel Baker said, “Starting construction is a huge milestone for the Parron Maam Marang Farm project and reflects the commitment and collaboration of many people over a number of years.

“As a long-term owner and operator, we’re focused on delivering a project that will contribute to Western Australia’s energy future while creating lasting benefits for the Mid West.

“Construction will bring local jobs, opportunities and investment into the region. We’re looking forward to delivering the project and ensuring that benefits of this investment re felt locally, both during construction and over the long term.”
