1414 Degrees has signed a purchase order for 5B Maverick systems for the Aurora Energy Precinct’s approved initial 70MW solar development, covering 42ha near Port Augusta in South Australia.
Australian-designed 5B Maverick was chosen as Aurora’s preferred solar deployment system.

5B’s prefabricated solar panels, cabling, and connections are factory-assembled and tested before transport to site, reducing onsite assembly work. The panels unfold for rapid installation, while their compact layout accommodates more solar capacity per hectare than conventional layouts.
The systems ordered for Aurora will be manufactured at 5B’s Adelaide facility and transported to the precinct for installation.
While the initial deployment covers 42 hectares within Aurora’s approved 200ha solar development footprint, 1414 Degrees’ assessment indicates that the Maverick layout could accommodate more than 300MW of solar PV capacity across that footprint.
1414 Degrees now holds full ownership of the Aurora Energy Precinct. The approximately 16km² precinct is located in South Australia’s Upper Spencer Gulf Renewable Energy Zone and is being developed to combine renewable generation, energy storage and supporting infrastructure for high-demand users.
The initial 70MW solar development forms part of Aurora’s Stage 1 grid-scale project, alongside the approved 140MW/280 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”). The BESS has cleared AEMO’s technical requirements, and commercial transmission access negotiations for the proposed 275kV connection are advancing.
1414 Degrees executive chair Kevin Moriarty said: “Placing this order is a further step towards delivery of Aurora’s initial 70MW solar development.
“The Maverick layout allows us to accommodate considerably more solar capacity within the available land, supporting staged expansion alongside storage, connection infrastructure and customer demand.
