European Energy has inaugurated its 108MW Lancaster Solar Farm in the state of Victoria in Australia, coinciding with the Danish King and Queen’s state visit to Australia.

Lancaster Solar Farm comprises approximately 170,000 solar panels and will supply renewable electricity to tech giant Apple under a long-term power purchase agreement.

The project adds new operational capacity to European Energy’s growing Australian portfolio of renewable energy assets, which has secured long-term offtake agreements and project financing.

Representatives from European Energy attended the opening together with local stakeholders and members of the Yorta Yorta community, the First Nations Traditional Custodians of the land.

“The Lancaster Solar Farm adds operational capacity to European Energy’s Australian portfolio and reflects the continued progress of the company’s development pipeline,” European Energy country manager for Australia Catriona McLeod said.

“Australia offers strong fundamentals for renewable energy investment, supported by growing corporate demand and a supportive regulatory framework.”

Australia is a priority market for European Energy. In 2025, the company secured multiple long-term power purchase agreements with global corporate offtakers and obtained project financing for solar developments in the country.

“The Lancaster Solar Farm adds further scale to European Energy’s activities in Australia and reflects the company’s strategy of expanding its renewable energy portfolio in markets with strong demand for clean electricity,” European Energy CEO Knud Erik Andersen said.

“Australia is developing quickly as a renewable energy market, and European Energy continues to build a project pipeline supported by long-term power purchase agreements and partnerships with corporate offtakers.”

European Energy currently has a development pipeline of approximately 10GW of solar, onshore wind and battery storage projects in Australia.

Winton North Solar Farm is currently under construction, while the Mulwala Solar Farm has completed construction and is in commissioning, close to energisation. Both projects are located within 90 minutes of the Lancaster site.
