Firm Power has announced plans for a new battery energy storage system (BESS) in New South Wales, to be located near the 330kV Kangaroo Valley substation.

Subject to approvals, construction of the Kangaroo Valley BESS is expected to be take up to 18 months.
When operational, the Kangaroo Valley BESS will help meet the current and future energy demand needs of New South Wales while supporting the national energy market transition.
The land for the BESS has already been secured, with the initial phases of development already underway. Complete project development is expected to be wrapped up in early 2028.
Firm Power will seek approval for the battery’s grid connection through network operator Transgrid.

Firm Power, which was recently acquired by AGL, has over 4GW of BESS projects in various stages of development across the national electricity grid.
