X-ELIO’s Sixteen Mile Solar Farm gets government tick

The federal government has approved X-ELIO‘s 350MW Sixteen Mile Solar Farm, to be located around 22km south of Chinchilla in Queensland.

Comprising 579,660 solar panels and a 120MW battery storage system, Sixteen Mile Solar Farm will connect to the existing Western Downs Substation.

The project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 650,000 tonnes per annum, which is equivalent to taking around 205,000 cars off the road for a year.

Sixteen Mile Solar Farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

X-ELIO’s 200MW Blue Grass Solar Farm is also located in Chinchilla, with Queensland’s Stanwell offtaking clean energy from the project.
