Worker dies at Lightsource bp solar project

NSW Police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old worker at the site of Lightsource bp’s Wellington North solar project, which is currently being constructed in Wellington, New South Wales.

The incident is being treated as a workplace accident and is said to have occurred just before 10am on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Emergency services were called to a solar farm on Goolma Road, Wuuluman, following reports a worker had collapsed.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene, however, he could not be revived.

Officers established a crime scene to be examined by specialist police, with a report being prepared for the Coroner.

The 425MW solar project is being constructed beside Lightsource bp’s existing 200MW Wellington solar farm, with the view of creating a solar hub with a combined generation capacity of 625MW.

A Lightsource bp representative said its team was working closely with emergency services and authorities to aid the investigation.
