Worker dies at Clarke Creek Wind Farm in Queensland

A man has died in an accident at Squadron Energy’s Clarke Creek Wind Farm in Central Queensland on July 2.

The 27-year-old’s death reportedly occurred during the installation of wind turbines at the renewable energy project site north-west of Rockhampton.

The worker was reportedly treated by emergency services onsite but did not survive.

Squadron Energy said work at the wind farm had been suspended.

“Safety is our top priority across all our sites and the wellbeing of everyone on the Clarke Creek Wind Farm site is our immediate focus,” a company spokesperson said.

“The family has been notified and is being supported.”

Police and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland personnel have commenced investigations at the site.

Clarke Creek is one of Australia’s biggest wind farms

On completion, the 450MW Clarke Creek wind project will comprise 100 turbines produced by Goldwind, generating enough electricity to power approximately 330,000 homes.
