TransGrid’s double win at Excellence Awards

TransGrid won awards in two categories of the 2010 SAI Global Systems Excellence Awards in the Environmental Management and Integrated Management Systems categories.

TransGrid general manager, Paul Phillips said the wins were the result of staff dedication in implementing systems developed by the company’s environment, quality and OHS teams.

“TransGrid’s win in two categories demonstrate the excellent work by staff over the last 12 months in systems management which is essential to TransGrid’s ongoing success,” Mr Phillips said.

“Having effective business systems in place is vital to ensure that TransGrid improves its performance and meets its OHSE goals,” he said.

SAI Global’s senior management systems assessor, Noel Steward said that TransGrid’s long standing and commitment to maintaining and improving its occupational health safety, quality and environmental integrated system led to the recognition and achievement of the awards.

“TransGrid’s integrated system is robust and shows very good levels of maturity,” Mr Steward said.

“Best practice standards were seen in a number of areas for environmental management, for example environmental impact assessments for vegetation management for transmission lines and the application of environmental rules to construction projects,” he said.

Both awards were presented to TransGrid at the 2010 Australian Business Excellence Awards in Melbourne.
