Tonnes of upgrades for Gold Coast power network

An electricity transformer weighing the equivalent of about 50 Toyota Corollas has been delivered to Energex’s Cades County substation at Oxenford on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The arrival of the massive transformer is another milestone in the $11 million upgrade of the substation located on Kopps Road, Oxenford.

Nearly 12,500 homes and businesses in Oxenford, Helensvale, Coomera and parts of the Gold Coast Hinterland will benefit from the substation upgrade.

The transformer and associated work will enhance the capacity of the substation, ensuring the local power network has additional supply for current and future growth in the area.
