Origin has officially surpassed 2,000 electric vehicles (EVs) under management, making it Australia’s largest dedicated EV subscription and fleet provider.
While Australia’s EV landscape is evolving, high upfront costs and complex infrastructure have historically kept many drivers on the sidelines.

Origin is attempting to remove these barriers by offering an innovative salary packaging subscription program, alongside fleet solutions, to convert the EV-curious into active EV drivers.
This flexible approach—alongside the Electric Car Discount—is helping to make EVs more accessible and affordable for everyday Australians and businesses, and supporting the industry goal of EVs reaching 50% new car sales by 2030.
“Reaching 2,000 vehicles under management is more than just a number, it’s a testament to the growing appetite amongst Australians for cleaner transport, when the right solutions are in place. It proves that removing high upfront costs and complexity can significantly accelerate EV uptake in Australia,” Origin general manager of e-mobility Chau Le said.
“More and more Australians are realising the significant cost benefits of driving an EV. On fuel costs alone, the average Australian driver could be saving upwards of $1,500 per year. We believe this 2,000-vehicle milestone reflects a significant shift in the local market, with EV ownership now pushing past the early adopter stage and into the mainstream.”
Data from Origin’s latest subscriber survey highlights how its offering is changing consumer behaviour:
- 60% of subscribers admit they would not have made the switch to electric without this specific entry point
- Nearly one-third (33%) of current subscribers weren’t even shopping for a car until the low-friction subscription model became available
- 82% of current drivers are first-time EV owners.
Origin also offers a range of add-on benefits, including an electric employee benefits program for partner organisations, a designated EV electricity plan with five hours of free power each day, and an innovative EV Power Up charging product, which allows customers with eligible vehicles to fully charge for under $5.
