NSW power network update

Ausgrid crews have continued to work through the night to restore power to another 6000 customers.

As at 7am power has been restored to 118,000 customers.

Power is still out to about 22,000 homes and businesses across Sydney and the Central Coast and outages will stretch into the weekend.

With additional resources, Ausgrid is are aiming to have all customers restored by the end of Sunday.

Additional crews from Queensland, Victoria and South Australia are assisting with the response.

Extra SES crews are helping to clear trees from the network.

Ausgrid would like to thank customers for their understanding, saying this was one of the worst storms to hit its network in the past 20 years. The storm event has now been declared a natural disaster.

Ausgrid’s contact centre is operating 24 hours a day to respond to customer calls – 13 13 88.

The company is urging people to be vigilant for risks in storm-damaged areas as contact with powerlines can be deadly.
