Households and small businesses in New South Wales will be able to take advantage of the state government’s new battery incentive, available from November 1, with a discount of up to $2,400 on the installation of a new battery.

The discount can be accessed when installing a battery in homes or small businesss with an existing solar system, or the discount can be included in a quote for a combined solar system and battery installation.
Rewiring Australia has backed the new incentive to make household batteries more accessible for residents across the state.
“Encouraging battery installation is a smart way to reduce energy bills and bring down emissions,” Rewiring Australia executive director Dan Cass says.
“The greatest source of household emissions is energy use and households make up a large portion of national emissions.
“These incentives will allow more households and businesses to reap the benefits of cheap solar power while benefiting the environment and strengthening the reliability of the grid.”

The battery incentive will help reduce electricity demand during peak periods, and the risk of power outages in New South Wales.
It will also help reduce the state’s emissions by 70% by 2035.
