New CEO for Clean Energy Council

The Clean Energy Council (CEC) has appointed the former head of the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy (UKBCSE), David Green, as its new chief executive.

Mr Green, who is also the executive director of the International Business Council for Sustainable Energy – of which the CEC is a member – founded the UKBCSE in 2001 and left the organisation at the beginning of the year as it became part of Energy UK.

He replaces Matthew Warren who took up the post of chief executive of the Energy Supply Association of Australia late last year.

Prior to creating the UKBCSE, Mr Green was the head of the Combined Heat and Power Association in the UK, and has set up a wide range of local energy-efficiency initiatives in lower income communities.

“The board looks forward to David leading the Clean Energy Council and industry through the exciting next chapter of the industry’s development,” CEC chairman Michael Fraser said.
