Neoen and Tesla may join forces to build a third Australian ‘big battery’ in North Queensland.
According to Neoen’s head of wind development in Australia, Garth Heron, a battery with capacity surpassing one at Neoen’s Hornsdale Wind Farm may be developed at Neoen’s Kaban Green Power Hub, 80km south-west of Cairns.
The project, which would be able to power as many as 57,000 homes, could be operational by 2019. It would be in addition to the 20MW battery Tesla is set to build for Neoen’s Bulgana Green Power Hub in Victoria, which also integrates a wind farm with battery storage.
Tesla has declined to comment at this stage.
