The record was announced by NEM analyst Geoff Eldridge in a LinkedIn update.

Rooftop solar led the renewables pack, generating 12,532MW of clean energy, while utility-scale solar added 4,549MW to the total. Wind generation contributed 8,074MW while hydro added 616MW.

Fossil fuel generation totalled 7,240MW, with coal at 7,033MW and gas at 207MW. The remaining 0.2% came from other sources.

Eldridge’s analysis also revealed curtailment of 4,879MW during the same period.

“This is the first seasonal record of this key ‘blue-ribbon’ indicator—one that will be followed closely over the coming months to see where it settles for another year,” Eldridge commented.
