Australian energy retailer Nectr has taken the top spot in Canstar Blue’s inaugural Green Excellence Awards in 2022.

Nectr was awarded for its 100 per cent carbon neutral and 100 per cent GreenPower plans, which showcase environmental leadership and sustainable strategy, empowering consumers to choose genuine greener energy solutions.

Canstar Blue’s Green Excellence Awards 2022 involved independent rating and assessment, analysing a wide range of energy retailers and plans across Australia. Key assessment criteria included impact on sustainability, environmental targets (including commitment to sustainable change), affordability, accessibility, and ease of use.

“As one of Australia’s leaders in greener, cleaner energy, Nectr is proud to be the very first to be awarded a Canstar Blue Green Excellence Award,” Nectr managing director Andrew Butler said.

“Our energy offerings are built to offer more environmentally-friendly and affordable energy plans for Australians, that also suit their lifestyle and energy consumption habits. We’re thrilled to have this recognised in such a competitive space.”

Nectr’s Canstar Blue Award win adds to the retailer’s green accolades, having also achieved top 10 status in Greenpeace Australia’s 2022 Green Electricity Guide, and multiple Mozo Experts Choice Awards.

The judging panel of Canstar Blue’s Green Excellence Awards 2022 recognised Nectr’s commitment to driving sustainable change by reducing carbon emissions, investing in renewable projects (such as solar farms in NSW), and taking a customer-focused approach to pricing.

“Nectr entered the energy industry with a mission to clean up energy to make it better for everyone. We challenge other retailers to offer 100 per cent carbon neutral plans like we do because we unashamedly want to support a clean energy future for our customers and our country,” Nectr chief marketing officer Karren Challoner-Miles said.

Nectr was born digital, which has proven to be a major advantage as the industry transitions to renewable energy. Nectr’s digitisation provides more flexibility in managing consumption demand, efficiencies, and sustainability.
