Nineteen renewable energy projects have been selected in Tender 7 of the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), delivering 7.8GW of renewable energy—well above the 5GW originally planned.
Eight of the 19 projects are hybrid projects, meaning they include a battery along with the wind or solar generation, contributing over 7.9GWh of storage to the grid.
The projects are expected to produce enough electricity to supply more than 4 million households in the National Electricity Market (NEM), support more than 19,000 jobs during construction, and support more than 1,500 operations and maintenance jobs over their lifetime.
