Power and Water Corporation has been named Host Employer of the Year at awards run by GTNT, the largest employer of apprentices/trainees in the Northern Territory

The corporation’s pathways coordinator Suzie Williams said Power and Water Corporation’s  apprenticeships program is one of the most sought after in the region.

“Each year we have more than 300 applications, everyone wants in. It’s all about the opportunity we give our apprentices with the training and development we provide,” she said.

This year’s program has seen 65 apprentices working across the Territory.

Power and Water Power Networks electrical fitter mechanic Hayden Kennaway was runner-up in the Apprentice of the Year. He completed his apprenticeship last year and is following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who worked as an electrician.

“We have a passion for supporting the future generation of Territory apprentices,” Ms Williams said.
