Gray named Australia’s resources and energy minister

Following the resignation of Australian Minister for Resources and Energy Martin Ferguson in March, Prime Minister Julia Gillard has named Western Australian MP Gary Gray as the new energy minister.

Mr Gray also will take on the role of minister for small business. He was formerly Special Minister of State and Minister for Public Service and Integrity.

Before entering politics Mr Gray served as senior executive with Woodside Energy.

He is a staunch supporter of the Labor Governmentโ€™s carbon tax and mining and petroleum tax regimes.
