Global Power Generation (GPG), a subsidiary of Spanish renewables developer Naturgy, has entered the construction phase for the Fraser Coast Hybrid Project—its largest renewables project in Australia.
To be located 50km south-west of Maryborough on Queensland’s Fraser Coast, the new hybrid energy facility will combine 330MW of solar capacity with 180MW of battery storage.

The Fraser Coast Hybrid Project will also be supported by a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), which secures the long-term sale of the renewable electricity generated by the plant.
The Fraser Coast Hybrid Project is expected to commence operations in 2028.
Naturgy has an operating portfolio of 1.3GW in Australia, including six wind farms, two solar farms, the group’s first storage facility worldwide (ACT Battery), and its first hybrid photovoltaic generation and battery storage project (Cunderdin).
The company has a diversified geographic footprint in the country through its presence in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland.

Naturgy operates in Australia through its subsidiary GPG, in which the group holds a 75% majority stake, alongside Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), which owns the remaining 25%.
