Together they will co-develop the Cellars Hill Wind Farm and the Weasel Solar Farm projects, with a total anticipated project value of $2 billion.

Tasmanian Minister for Energy and Renewables Nick Duigan welcomed the news, saying, “Tasmania has what the world wants, and our renewable energy potential continues to attract investors.
“A significant amount of capital is required to make Tasmania’s renewable energy future a reality, and every project is playing its part.
“It is great to see a company like Gamuda recognising Tasmania’s clean energy pedigree and potential, and having the confidence to commit to these projects.”
Cellars Hill Wind Farm, a major project under Tasmania’s streamlined planning legislation, will deliver 350MW of wind energy and a co-located battery energy storage system.
The 250MW Weasel Solar Farm will generate renewable energy through the strategic integration of solar energy production, mixed with agricultural production.
“Both projects will generate hundreds of construction jobs, and provide ongoing employment and economic activity, particularly for Central Highlands communities,” Minister Duigan said.
“Importantly, by partnering with the local community, households within a 12km radius will be offered energy rebates, cutting their power bills significantly.
“This is an exciting development and something the Government expects to see more of off the back of Project Marinus proceeding—underpinning the energy needs of our growing economy and increasing electrification over the long term, delivering for Tasmania.”

Gamuda chief strategy and growth officer Jarred Hardman said, “The Tasmanian energy projects perfectly fit Gamuda’s energy strategy to become a leading end-to-end developer, builder, and owner of energy assets to accelerate Australia’s clean energy future.”
Subject to further planning and development processes and approvals, construction of Weasel Solar Farm is expected to commence in 2026-27 and Cellars Hill Wind Farm in 2027-28.
