Female electricians make a mark in the Northern Territory

A group of female electricians have been recognised at the Women in Resources Northern Territory Awards, winning the NT Government Excellence in Diversity Programs and Performance Award.

The women call themselves ‘The Sparkettes’, and promote trades as an ideal career option for women across the Territory. Focusing on support and mentoring, Power and Water staff members Marnie Scobie and Ella Cavallaro started the group in 2013, and it has been gaining traction in the community ever since.

The Sparkettes are excited about the win and hope it will show other women that becoming an electrician, or a tradeswoman, is an achievable and rewarding career.

Power and Water proudly supports the Sparkettes. You can follow them on Facebook to keep up-to-date with their projects.
