Accenture, Kraken, and Essential Energy have partnered to deliver Kraken’s purpose-built Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP) operating system in Australia.

The innovative, customer-centric operating system for energy distributor, Essential Energy, will deliver real time flexibility, cleaner data and faster workflows supported by AI capability, revolutionising the way AI utilities can manage network performance, billing and customer support.

The new operating system also helps accelerate the energy transition by building a future-ready digital core that helps DNSPs adapt to evolving environmental regulations, rising grid complexity (from distributed energy resources, for example), and growing data needs, while simultaneously improving the experience for their customers.

This large-scale transformation is being delivered at an accelerated pace by bringing together Kraken’s innovative technology, Accenture’s delivery and industry expertise, and Essential Energy’s leadership in modern network operations. The partnership also marks the launch of Kraken Distribution, which extends the Kraken operating system to the full energy value chain: generation, distribution and retail.

Essential Energy chief assets and digital officer Luke Jenner said, “As the energy transition accelerates, networks like ours have a pivotal role to play in enabling a smarter, more connected grid. This collaboration with Accenture and Kraken will help us modernise our systems, improve billing accuracy and transparency, and ultimately deliver a better experience for our customers.”

Kraken general manager distribution Jeremy Hetzel said, “This partnership marks an important step, as Kraken establishes itself as the operating system for the full energy value chain. By unifying data and operations in a single, AI-powered environment, we’re enabling network operators to run more efficiently, adapt faster to change and empower customers to actively participate in the transition to a cleaner, smarter energy future.”
