Ergon chief puts forward perspective on power costs

The chief executive of Queensland regional electricity distributor, Ergon Energy, has weighed in to the debate on rising electricity prices, providing the company’s perspective on the issue.

In the Energy Perspective posted on Ergon Energy’s website, Mr McLeod outlined how the company is taking a hard look at its operations and cutting costs in an effort to address widespread concern about increasing power prices.

“It’s no secret that the price of electricity has risen significantly – in fact some regulated tariffs in Queensland have doubled over the last seven years,” Mr McLeod said.

“There are a number of challenges confronting the Australian electricity industry, particularly in Queensland where major industry restructure is underway.”
